About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your academic learning to real-world practice under the direction of a preceptor. This program provides hands-on experience in pharmacy operations, preparing you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist. You will follow a comprehensive training roadmap, including key learning experiences and direct mentorship, to gain a thorough understanding of store, district, and regional operations.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled accurately and safely.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, offering immunizations, and solving or escalating patient problems.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members to share best practices.
- Support immunizations by completing required training and licensure, educating patients, and documenting patient information.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, as well as company policies regarding privacy and security.
- Manage inventory activities such as cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and processing medication deliveries.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure as required by state regulations.
- Ability to complete all mandatory training within the designated timeframe.
- Regular and predictable attendance, with the flexibility to work nights and weekends.
- Strong focus and attention to detail when performing tasks and ensuring prescription accuracy.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 20 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks such as typing or reaching.
