About the role#
As a Graduate Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy education to real-world practice while preparing for a future role as a Pharmacist. Under the direction of a preceptor and District Leader, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap within 120 days of graduation. This role focuses on deepening your understanding of patient safety, quality assurance, drug utilization review, and pharmacy operations.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and providing caring service.
- Offer to counsel patients, field medical questions, and solicit medical history information under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Deliver additional health care services, such as immunizations and point-of-care testing, where allowable by law and supported by training.
- Complete basic inventory activities, including putting away medication deliveries, cycle counts, and returns-to-stocks.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, professional standards, and ethical principles.
What you'll need#
- PharmD graduate of a U.S. accredited program prior to beginning the training program.
- Ability to obtain required pharmacist licensure within the required timeframe per state guidelines.
- Must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern or technician licensure as required.
- Ability to work a schedule that includes nights and weekends.
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs and remain mobile for extended periods.
