About the role#
This internship provides foreign-trained pharmacists the opportunity to complete required US internship hours. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to gain hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting. The program is designed to help you develop the skills and knowledge needed to pass pharmacist licensure exams and transition into a professional pharmacy career.
What you'll do#
- Assist pharmacy and front store customers with their questions and concerns.
- Maintain customer and patient confidentiality according to HIPAA and company standards.
- Adhere to established pharmacy workflow and ensure operational standards are maintained at all times.
- Process prescriptions, including data entry, product selection, and labeling.
- Resolve third-party insurance rejections and manage inventory levels.
- Support the supervising pharmacist with dispensing, patient counseling, and monitoring compliance.
- Participate in store operational meetings and support the development of pharmacy support staff.
What you'll need#
- A Doctorate (PharmD) or equivalent pharmacist degree from a non-US accredited school of pharmacy.
- An active Pharmacy Intern license in the state where the district is located.
- Must be a foreign graduate from a non-US accredited college or school of pharmacy prior to beginning the training program.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Physical ability to lift and move objects up to 20 lbs occasionally.
- Commitment to completing required internship hours within 18 months and obtaining pharmacist licensure within 120 days of completing those hours.
