About the role#
This Pharmacy Intern position involves working under the direct supervision of staff pharmacists and the Pharmacy Administrative Team. You will assist with medication preparation, inventory management, and administrative support within the scope of practice defined by the State of Nebraska.
What you'll do#
- Prepare, label, and deliver medications accurately and on time.
- Aseptically prepare sterile products, including TPN solutions and large volume parenterals.
- Manage automated dispensing machines, including loading, refilling, and basic maintenance.
- Maintain stock levels in the pharmacy and patient care areas.
- Handle patient charges and credits for returned medications.
- Manage pharmacy technology, including BAXA compounder setup, Pyxis functions, MILT labeling, and electronic variance reporting.
- Answer phones, direct calls, and assist visitors with questions.
- Use electronic drug information resources and internal policy systems.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy with good academic standing.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Required licensure: Registered Pharmacy Intern (RPI) within 180 days of hire or upon hire.
- If not registered as an intern, you must hold a Certified Pharmacy Tech (PHAR-C) certification upon hire.
- Pharmacy Technicians must obtain CPhT certification through a Nebraska approved program within one year of registration.
- Proficiency in math for algebraic conversions and basic arithmetic.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with computer keyboards and typing is helpful.
- Prior experience in healthcare, unit dose, or sterile medication preparation is helpful but not required.

- Location: Omaha, Nebraska.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Casual, one day per week, every other weekend, and holiday rotation.
