About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your academic learning to real-world practice while preparing for future responsibilities as a Pharmacist. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap that includes Key Learning Experiences (KLEs) and hands-on activities. This role focuses on supporting pharmacy operations, ensuring patient safety, and developing professional skills within a retail environment.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap focusing on Key Learning Experiences.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly, including workflow procedures at production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off stations.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by demonstrating empathy, solving patient problems, and providing caring service.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and company policies regarding patient safety and privacy.
- Deliver additional patient health care services, such as immunizations and point-of-care testing, as allowed by law and supported by required training.
- Perform inventory activities, such as cycle counts and managing medication deliveries, as permitted by law.
What you'll need#
- Currently accepted into or actively enrolled in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Must possess or be in the process of obtaining valid intern or technician licensure as required.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
- Strong attention and focus, with the ability to concentrate on tasks over extended periods.
- Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy to ensure patient safety.
- Proficiency in verbal and written communication to interact effectively with patients and colleagues.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including standing for extended periods, reaching, and lifting up to 20 lbs.
