About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply didactic learning from pharmacy school into real-world practice to prepare for a future Pharmacist role. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap, including Key Learning Experiences (KLEs), to gain an overview of store, district, and regional operations. This role focuses on supporting the pharmacy team to deliver safe, accurate, and caring service to patients.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure pharmacy operations run smoothly.
- Participate in pharmacy workflow procedures, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off, to ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care during interactions.
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap and participate in activities designed to build clinical and technical aptitude.
- Maintain compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles.
- Support pharmacy leadership with inventory activities, such as cycle counts and returns-to-stocks, as permitted by law.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining such licensure as required.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
- Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy to ensure patient safety.
- Ability to pivot quickly between tasks to meet patient and business needs.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain focus over extended periods.
