About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your academic learning to real-world practice under the direction of a preceptor. This role involves completing a comprehensive training roadmap designed to develop your clinical and operational skills in preparation for a future career as a pharmacist. You will gain hands-on experience by supporting pharmacy operations, ensuring patient safety, and learning the nuances of store, district, and regional workflows.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure that pharmacy operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled promptly and accurately.
- Follow all company standard operating procedures at each pharmacy workstation, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by demonstrating empathy, providing caring service, and solving patient problems.
- Field medical questions and provide optimal care to patients under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Complete basic inventory activities, such as processing medication deliveries, cycle counts, and returns, as directed by pharmacy leadership.
- Educate patients on health services and support immunization efforts where permitted by law and supported by required training.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure as required by state regulations.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
- Strong attention to detail to confirm prescription information and label accuracy for patient safety.
- Ability to become immunization certified and perform related duties as state regulations allow.
- Flexibility to work across different store locations in the market and maintain availability for nights and weekends.
