About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your didactic learning from pharmacy school into real-world practice to prepare for a future role as a Pharmacist. Working under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap that includes key learning experiences and exposure to store, district, and regional operations. This role focuses on supporting the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly while providing caring service to patients.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure pharmacy operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled safely and accurately.
- Follow all company standard operating procedures at each pharmacy workstation, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by demonstrating empathy and genuine care during interactions.
- Field medical questions and, under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, solicit information on medical history to provide optimal care.
- Complete basic inventory activities, such as processing medication deliveries, cycle counts, and returns, as directed by pharmacy leadership.
- Maintain flexibility for scheduling and business needs, which may include traveling to other stores in the market.
- Support patient health services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law and supported by required training.
What you'll need#
- Must be accepted into, or actively enrolled in, an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern or technician licensure as required.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
- Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy to ensure patient safety.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Strong communication skills, mathematical reasoning, and the ability to pivot between tasks to meet patient needs.
- Physical ability to remain mobile for extended periods, lift up to 20 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks such as reaching, bending, and typing.
