About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a training roadmap, gaining an overview of pharmacy operations while preparing for a future Pharmacist role. This is a part-time, on-site position located in Vestal, New York.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled safely and accurately.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures to maintain consistent workflow across all pharmacy stations.
- Provide caring service to patients, including offering immunizations and other health care services where allowed by law.
- Complete basic inventory activities, such as putting away deliveries and performing cycle counts.
- Communicate with prescribers to clarify prescriptions or facilitate medication changes.
- Demonstrate empathy in all interactions to help create a positive patient experience.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Proficiency in using math to solve problems, such as calculating medication dosages.
- Strong focus and the ability to concentrate on tasks over extended periods.
- Flexibility to work in your home store and travel to other locations within the market as needed.
