About the role#
As a Graduate Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your didactic learning from pharmacy school into real-world practice to prepare for a Pharmacist role. You will work under the direction of a preceptor and District Leader to complete a training roadmap within 120 days of graduation. This program focuses on store, district, and regional operations, deepening your understanding of patient safety, quality assurance, and pharmacy professional standards.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled accurately and promptly.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Provide caring service to patients, including offering counseling, fielding medical questions, and soliciting information on medical history under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and facilitate medication changes where allowed by state regulation.
- Complete inventory activities such as cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and processing medication deliveries.
- Support immunization services by educating patients, obtaining informed consent, and documenting patient information.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members while sharing best practices.
What you'll need#
- PharmD graduate of a U.S. accredited program prior to beginning the Post-Graduate Training Program.
- Must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern or technician licensure as required.
- Ability to obtain pharmacist licensure within the required timeframe per state guidelines.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as reaching, stooping, and lifting up to 20 lbs.
- Strong communication skills, mathematical reasoning, and the ability to solve problems in patient interactions.
