Pharmacy Intern

About the role#

As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your didactic pharmacy education to real-world practice under the direction of a preceptor. This role focuses on completing a comprehensive training roadmap, gaining experience in store, district, and regional operations, and preparing for future responsibilities as a pharmacist. You will work as part of a team to ensure pharmacy operations run smoothly while delivering caring service to patients.

What you'll do#

• Complete a comprehensive training roadmap focusing on key learning experiences.
• Assist the pharmacy team to ensure pharmacy operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled safely and accurately.
• Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care in all interactions.
• Follow pharmacy workflow procedures across production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off stations.
• Educate patients about the importance of vaccines and refer them to the pharmacist for specific questions.
• Support inventory management, including putting away medication deliveries and completing cycle counts.
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local laws, as well as company policies regarding patient privacy and safety.

What you'll need#

• Currently accepted into or actively enrolled in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
• Must possess or be in the process of obtaining valid intern or technician licensure as required.
• Ability to concentrate on tasks over extended periods and maintain attention to detail.
• Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy to ensure patient safety.
• Proficiency in using math to solve problems, such as calculating tablet counts and day supplies.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues, including active listening.
• Ability to remain mobile and upright for extended periods, with the physical capacity to lift up to 20 lbs.
