About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your didactic learning from pharmacy school into real-world practice. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap designed to provide hands-on experience with pharmacy operations. You will support the pharmacy team in delivering safe, accurate, and caring service while developing the skills necessary for a future role as a pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap focusing on key learning experiences and store operations.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure that daily operations run smoothly and efficiently.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off, to ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care during interactions.
- Educate patients about the importance of vaccines and refer them to the pharmacist for specific questions.
- Maintain compliance with all company policies, federal, state, and local laws, and ethical principles regarding patient safety and privacy.
What you'll need#
- Must be accepted into or actively enrolled in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Must possess or be in the process of obtaining valid intern and/or technician licensure as required.
- Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time to ensure accuracy.
- Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy to maintain patient safety.
- Ability to use math to solve problems, such as determining the total number of tablets to dispense.
- Ability to pivot between tasks and maintain a customer-focused, friendly demeanor.
