About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your academic learning from pharmacy school into real-world practice. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap designed to provide hands-on experience with pharmacy operations. This role focuses on supporting the pharmacy team to deliver safe and accurate care while developing the skills necessary for a future Pharmacist role.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure pharmacy operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled safely and accurately.
- Follow company standard operating procedures to help pharmacists and technicians manage and improve patient health.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care during interactions at pick-up, drive-thru, and over the phone.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and contact them to clarify prescriptions or facilitate medication changes where allowed by state regulation.
- Complete basic inventory activities as permitted by law, including putting away medication deliveries, cycle counts, and returns-to-stock.
- Maintain flexibility for scheduling and business needs, including the ability to travel to other store locations within the market as needed.
What you'll need#
- Acceptance into or active enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Possession of, or in the process of obtaining, valid intern or technician licensure as required by the state.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
- Regular and predictable attendance, including availability to work nights and weekends.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to meet physical demands including standing for extended periods, lifting up to 20 lbs, and performing repetitive tasks.
