About the role#
This three-week virtual externship provides an introduction to the fundamentals of underwriting and risk analysis. The program is designed to help students understand the role of an underwriter and explore potential career paths within the insurance industry. Participants will receive priority consideration for future internship recruiting seasons upon successful completion of the program.
What you'll do#
- Learn the basics of underwriting, risk analysis, and pricing strategies.
- Engage in interactive virtual sessions led by industry experts.
- Apply knowledge to real-world scenarios and collaborate with peers to analyze risks and present recommendations.
- Connect with company leaders, underwriters, and other industry professionals.
- Build foundational skills in communication, problem solving, and decision-making.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program, with sophomore students preferred.
- Pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Finance, Marketing, or Operations Management.
- Access to a computer with a reliable internet connection for virtual sessions.
- Availability for all program dates: September 29 to October 1, October 6 to 8, and October 13 to 15.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Curiosity about the insurance industry and an eagerness to learn.
Location & details#
- This is a remote, virtual externship program.
- Sessions are held Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. ET.
- This is an unpaid educational experience and is not eligible for pay or benefits.
- Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
