About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world pharmacy operations. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This role prepares you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist by providing an overview of store, district, and regional operations. You will assist the pharmacy team to ensure that operations run smoothly and that patient needs are met safely and accurately.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team with daily operations to ensure prescriptions are filled promptly and safely.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care during interactions.
- Complete basic inventory activities, such as putting away deliveries, completing cycle counts, and managing returns.
- Educate patients about the importance of vaccines and refer vaccination questions to the Pharmacist-on-duty.
- Follow all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and professional standards.
- Communicate effectively with patients and colleagues while maintaining patient privacy and security.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Capacity to concentrate on tasks over extended periods.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
