About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will bridge the gap between your academic studies and real-world pharmacy practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a training roadmap, gaining exposure to store, district, and regional operations. This role focuses on developing your skills in preparation for a future Pharmacist position while supporting the pharmacy team in delivering patient care.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team with operations to ensure prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Apply knowledge from pharmacy school to daily tasks and clinical responsibilities.
- Demonstrate empathy and care during patient interactions, whether in person, at the drive-thru, or over the phone.
- Follow company standard operating procedures and workflow protocols at all workstations.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ethical principles regarding pharmacy practice and patient privacy.
- Support immunization services by educating patients and, where permitted by law and training, assisting in vaccine administration.
- Maintain focus and accuracy when verifying prescription information and labels.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance to an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks over extended periods.
- Proficiency in using math to solve problems related to prescriptions, such as calculating dosages and day supplies.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including nights and weekends, and to travel to other store locations within the market as needed.
