About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your academic learning to real-world practice under the direction of a preceptor. This role focuses on developing clinical and operational skills in preparation for a future career as a Pharmacist. You will gain exposure to pharmacy operations through a structured training roadmap, including key learning experiences and collaboration with pharmacy leadership.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled safely and accurately.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and providing compassionate care.
- Educate patients about the importance of vaccines and refer clinical questions to the Pharmacist on duty.
- Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions, documenting events as required by public health standards.
- Complete basic inventory activities, such as processing deliveries, cycle counts, and returns.
- Follow standard operating procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern and/or technician licensure as required by state regulations.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks over extended periods and pivot quickly to meet business needs.
- Proficiency in using math to solve problems, such as calculating medication dosages and supply counts.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a focus on active listening.
