About the role#
As a Graduate Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your education and pharmacy practice training to real-world scenarios. Under the guidance of a preceptor and District Leader, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap within 120 days of graduation. This role focuses on deepening your understanding of patient safety, quality assurance, and pharmacy operations while preparing you for a future Pharmacist position.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly, including accurate and prompt prescription fulfillment.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and contact them to clarify details or facilitate medication changes, as permitted by state regulation.
- Perform basic inventory activities, such as putting away medication deliveries, completing cycle counts, processing returns-to-stock, and managing waiting bin inventories.
- Follow standard operating procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Maintain focus and attention to detail to ensure prescription label accuracy and patient safety.
- Provide caring service to patients, including offering immunizations and answering medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
What you'll need#
- Must be a PharmD graduate of a U.S. accredited program prior to beginning the training program.
- Must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern or technician licensure as required.
- Ability to obtain required pharmacist licensure within 120 days of graduation; failure to do so will result in separation of employment.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including remaining upright for extended periods, reaching, stooping, and lifting up to 20 lbs.
- Strong communication skills, mathematical reasoning for prescription calculations, and the ability to pivot between tasks to meet patient needs.
