About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your academic training to real-world practice under the guidance of a preceptor. This role involves completing a comprehensive training roadmap that includes Key Learning Experiences and exposure to store, district, and regional operations. You will support the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly while preparing for future responsibilities as a pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at workstations such as production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off to ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Assist the pharmacy team in daily operations and provide caring service to patients.
- Offer to counsel, field medical questions, and solicit medical history information under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and clarify details with prescribers where permitted by law.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where allowable by law and supported by training.
- Complete inventory activities such as cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and processing medication deliveries.
- Maintain high self-awareness and provide in-the-moment coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to pivot quickly between tasks to meet patient and business needs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to use math to solve pharmacy-related problems.
- Ability to remain mobile and upright for extended periods, and the physical capacity to lift up to 20 lbs.
