About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will bridge your academic learning with hands-on pharmacy practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap, gaining an overview of store, district, and regional operations. This role focuses on developing your skills in preparation for a future Pharmacist position while supporting our pharmacy teams in delivering safe, accurate, and compassionate patient care.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap, including Key Learning Experiences, to deepen your understanding of pharmacy operations and patient counseling.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off, to ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, fielding medical questions, and providing caring service.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and company policies regarding patient safety and privacy.
- Deliver additional patient health care services, such as immunizations, where allowable by law and supported by required training.
- Assist with basic inventory activities, such as cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and processing medication deliveries.
What you'll need#
- Current acceptance into or enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Possession of, or the active process of obtaining, a valid intern or technician license.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
- Strong attention and focus, with the ability to concentrate on tasks over extended periods.
- Flexibility to pivot quickly between tasks to meet changing patient and business needs.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
