About the role#
The Nurse Extern II role is a department-specific externship for nursing students in their final year. You will gain hands-on experience in the PCU, focusing on one specialty area to build your skills before graduation. This is a per diem position that provides consistent exposure to patient care.
What you'll do#
- Provide patient care support under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Help with patient care planning, implementation, observation, and evaluation.
- Communicate significant observations to your supervising RN.
- Provide essential assistance and comfort to patients.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited RN nursing program and in good standing.
- Completion of the Fundamentals of Nursing course.
- Completion of your first round of clinical rotations.
- Standing within the final one to two academic terms of your program.
- AHA BLS certification.
