About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your academic learning to real-world practice while preparing for a future role as a Pharmacist. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap, including Key Learning Experiences (KLEs), to gain an overview of pharmacy operations. This role focuses on supporting the pharmacy team, ensuring safe and accurate prescription fulfillment, and providing caring service to patients.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap focusing on Key Learning Experiences.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure pharmacy operations run smoothly.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care.
- Understand and comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and professional standards.
- Maintain high levels of self-awareness and provide coaching or mentoring to team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities, such as cycle counts and managing medication deliveries.
- Support immunization services, including patient education and documentation, where permitted by law and supported by required certification.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Possession of, or the process of obtaining, valid intern or technician licensure as required.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
- Regular and predictable attendance, including availability for nights and weekends.
- Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy to ensure patient safety.
- Strong communication skills, including active listening and the ability to exchange detailed information.
- Proficiency in mathematical reasoning for tasks such as calculating dosages and day supplies.
- Ability to remain mobile for extended periods and lift up to 20 lbs.
