About the role#

As a Pharmacy Intern at Kroger, you will play a key role in supporting pharmacy operations and delivering high-quality patient care. This role focuses on maintaining a safe, welcoming environment while assisting the pharmacy team in meeting sales and service goals. You will gain hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting, working directly with customers, prescribers, and insurance providers.

What you'll do#

• Create an outstanding customer experience by answering product questions and providing exceptional service.
• Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals while maintaining quality assurance standards.
• Provide drug counseling to customers and offer recommendations for over-the-counter medications.
• Maintain deep knowledge of pharmaceutical products to discuss them competently with customers and prescribers.
• Handle daily pharmacy tasks including inputting patient information, dispensing medications, contacting prescribers for authorization, and processing third-party insurance claims.
• Administer immunizations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
• Manage inventory by stocking orders, checking incoming shipments, and returning unused medication to stock.
• Ensure a clean and organized department while promoting a culture of trust, respect, and safety among associates.

What you'll need#

• Active enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
• A current state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
• Ability to work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
• Strong conflict management skills, with the ability to handle situations in a reasonable and nonconfrontational manner.
• Commitment to acting with honesty and integrity regarding business and patient information.
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
