About the role#
The Pharmacy Intern role focuses on providing exceptional service to customers while supporting department operations. You will work under the supervision of a pharmacist to ensure accurate prescription processing and high-quality patient care. This position requires a commitment to safety, integrity, and professional communication with both customers and healthcare providers.
What you'll do#
- Accurately input patient and prescription information into the pharmacy computer system.
- Provide drug counseling to customers and assist with over-the-counter medication recommendations.
- Dispense medications and deliver filled prescriptions accurately to customers.
- Facilitate communication with prescribers for authorizations and insurance companies to resolve billing issues.
- Administer immunizations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Assist the department manager in meeting sales and profit goals while maintaining quality assurance standards.
- Manage inventory by stocking incoming orders and returning unused stock to inventory.
- Maintain a clean and organized department environment.
- Report safety risks, accidents, or incidents to management immediately.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A current state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a high-paced and occasionally stressful environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills to support diverse customer needs, including minors, older adults, and individuals with special needs.
- Ability to handle conflict in a professional and nonconfrontational manner.
- Commitment to acting with honesty and integrity regarding all business and patient information.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
