About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will support the pharmacy team in delivering exceptional customer service while gaining hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting. This role focuses on maintaining quality assurance, assisting with sales and profit goals, and ensuring a safe, welcoming environment for all customers.
What you'll do#
- Provide drug counseling and assist customers with over-the-counter medication recommendations.
- Accurately input patient and prescription data into the pharmacy computer system.
- Process third-party insurance information and coordinate with prescribers for authorizations.
- Interpret oral and written prescriptions and dispense correct medications.
- Deliver filled prescriptions to customers and facilitate charge purchases.
- Provide immunizations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Manage inventory by checking incoming orders, stocking shelves, and returning unused stock.
- Maintain a clean department and report any safety risks, accidents, or incidents to management.
- Assist diverse customer groups, including older adults and individuals with special needs.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a United States school of pharmacy.
- A current state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
- Strong commitment to honesty and integrity regarding business and customer information.
- Ability to follow directions and manage conflict in a professional, nonconfrontational manner.
- Capability to perform all essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
