About the role#
This is a paid, full-time Pharmacy Intern position. You will work on-site in a retail pharmacy setting, supporting the pharmacy team in daily operations and providing essential care to customers. This role involves direct interaction with patients, prescribers, and insurance providers to ensure accurate and timely medication services.
What you'll do#
- Promote trust and respect among associates and create a welcoming environment for customers.
- Answer customer questions regarding products and provide drug counseling.
- Accurately input patient and prescription information into the pharmacy computer system.
- Dispense medication, contact prescribers for authorization, and process third-party insurance information.
- Accept and interpret oral and written prescriptions for fill or refill.
- Provide immunizations under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Manage inventory by stocking orders, checking incoming shipments, and returning unused stock.
- Maintain a clean department and report any safety risks, accidents, or incidents to management.
- Assist diverse populations, including minors, older adults, and individuals with special needs.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A current, state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
- Capacity to manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.
- Commitment to acting with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve issues.
