About the role#
The Spring 2027 Construction Project Engineer Intern program is a 12-week immersive experience designed for students to gain hands-on training and mentorship. Interns work alongside project managers and construction managers to support capital projects while developing professional skills and gaining exposure to senior leadership. The program runs from January 11, 2027, through April 23, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Assist project managers with essential functions, including pre-remodel checklists and fixture or refrigeration drawings.
- Support the execution of the contractor bid process and attend weekly project meetings.
- Manage the preparation and tracking of equipment orders to ensure they align with construction schedules.
- Oversee aspects of store fixture installation and conduct inspections for quality control and specification compliance.
- Assist with project closeout tasks, such as punch lists, as-builts, final invoicing, and filing.
- Review architectural, refrigeration, and electrical plans for completeness and standards compliance.
- Complete estimates for minor capital projects and provide support to facility engineering personnel.
- Develop a cumulative project summarizing internship accomplishments to present to the executive team.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or Construction Management.
- A preferred GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Prior experience in a construction environment.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to work effectively both independently and in group settings.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present information to various organizational levels.
- High attention to detail and ability to analyze information for business needs.
- Must possess work authorization that does not require sponsorship.
