About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will support the daily operations of the pharmacy department. You will work under the supervision of a pharmacist to provide patient care, manage inventory, and ensure accurate prescription processing. This role requires a focus on safety, accuracy, and professional communication with both customers and healthcare providers.
What you'll do#
- Provide drug counseling and assist customers with over-the-counter medication recommendations.
- Accurately input patient and prescription data into the pharmacy computer system.
- Dispense the correct medication and bag prescriptions for customer pickup.
- Administer immunizations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Contact prescribers and insurance companies to resolve authorization or coverage issues.
- Accept and interpret new and refill prescriptions.
- Maintain pharmacy cleanliness and manage incoming medication stock.
- Report safety risks or incidents to management immediately.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A valid, state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with honesty and integrity.
- Capability to work cooperatively in a busy environment.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with customers, including older adults and individuals with special needs.
