About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in grape and wine chemistry. You will join a team focused on research and production support, working to bridge the gap between chemical metrics and product quality. This role involves using analytical equipment to gather data that informs winemaking practices and commercial processes.
What you'll do#
- Develop and refine methods to characterize the aroma and mouthfeel of grapes and wines.
- Model the relationship between chemical metrics and sensory attributes to establish clear quality standards.
- Work with R&D partners to set chemical specifications across the beverage portfolio.
- Use statistical methods to analyze data and draw experimental conclusions.
- Evaluate the chemical characteristics of grapes throughout the maturation process.
- Research and implement high-throughput analytical methods to monitor juice and wine attributes.
- Assist in the scale up and commercialization of research advancements.
- Drive to and from various production locations as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or completion of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, or Engineering.
- Strong applied technical and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Must be 21 years of age.
- A valid driver’s license, a safe driving record, and a reliable vehicle.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays when necessary.
- Ability to lift and move up to 40 lbs and work at heights of 50 feet when inspecting tanks.
- Availability for the entire duration of the internship.
Location & details#
- Location: Modesto, California.
- Term: Summer and Fall 2027 (July through December).
- Modality: Full-time, on-site.
- Compensation: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour.
- Note: Sponsorship for employment-based visas is not available.
