About the role#
This is a hands-on, full-time internship with Kiewit Mining Group. You will gain experience in construction management by working directly on field operations. This role involves learning the key functions of the industry while contributing to active projects.
What you'll do#
- Perform engineering tasks using standard techniques and resolve technical problems during construction.
- Assist with field engineering, operation planning, cost control, and project scheduling.
- Track quantities, manage material procurement, and handle contract administration.
- Supervise field activities and maintain records regarding job progress, costs, and material usage.
- Review plans and specifications to determine material requirements and pricing.
- Coordinate with suppliers to expedite material deliveries.
- Investigate incidents and identify potential solutions.
- Plan and schedule specific job segments.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Civil, Mining, Geomatics, Geology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Ability to travel or relocate as needed.
- Ability to access all areas of a construction site in various climates and environments.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- High level of organization, time management, and attention to detail.
- Commitment to safety, ethics, and integrity.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines.
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends when required.
