    About the role#

    As a Mechanical Design Intern with Kiewit Nuclear Solutions, you will apply engineering drafting principles to perform basic design work. You will work under the guidance of engineers and designers to develop models and drawings while coordinating with your team to exchange project information.

    What you'll do#

    • Develop 3D models from sketches and drawings.
    • Create and maintain plans, diagrams, and detail drawings.
    • Check 3D models for interferences and resolve comments on drawings.
    • Complete as-built drawings using RFIs, ECNs, and red-marked documents.
    • Learn and apply Kiewit design standards, quality protocols, and applicable codes.
    • Report progress and issues to the Lead Designer.
    • Conduct personal quality checks to ensure design safety, operability, and consistency.
    • Participate in weekly project meetings.
    • Seek new information and apply constructive feedback to your work.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in an Associate or Bachelor program in Computer Aided Drafting and Design or a related field.
    • Proficiency in drafting software such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, Navisworks, or SmartPlant.
    • Entry-level to intermediate AutoCAD skills.
    • Working knowledge of modern operating systems, spreadsheets, and databases.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively, adapt to changing workloads, and meet deadlines.
    • Must be a US citizen with documentation for badge access.
    • Ability to pass a security questionnaire and background check.
