About the role#
Kiewit Power Engineering is seeking a Structural Design Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Lenexa, Kansas. You will contribute to project success by helping establish, maintain, and improve company standards and tools.
What you'll do#
- Coordinate with design team members to review and exchange project information.
- Collaborate with engineers and various disciplines to develop BIM models for steel structures and foundations.
- Create plans, drawings, and details using Building Information Modeling (BIM).
- Assist in the development of department standards and tools.
- Represent Kiewit Engineering and Design in a professional manner to contractors, vendors, and owners.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing an Associate or Bachelor degree in Computer Aided Design and Drafting Technology or a related field.
- Proficiency in a computer-aided drafting program.
- Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases.
- Basic knowledge of current computer operating systems.
- Ability to interpret multi-discipline engineering and vendor documents.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to manage emails and electronic meeting requests.
- Ability to complete assignments in a timely manner.
