About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will support the pharmacy department in delivering high-quality service and maintaining operational standards. This role involves direct patient interaction, administrative pharmacy tasks, and collaboration with the pharmacy team to ensure accurate medication dispensing and patient safety.
What you'll do#
- Create a welcoming environment and provide exceptional service to all customers.
- Provide drug counseling and assist customers with over the counter medication recommendations.
- Accurately input patient and prescription information into the pharmacy computer system.
- Dispense medications, process third party insurance claims, and contact prescribers for authorization.
- Administer immunizations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Maintain pharmacy inventory by checking incoming orders, stocking products, and returning unused stock.
- Assist the department manager in meeting sales and profit goals while upholding quality assurance standards.
- Communicate effectively with patients, including minors, older adults, and individuals with special needs.
- Maintain a clean and safe department, reporting any safety risks, accidents, or incidents to management.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A current state issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a high paced environment.
- Capacity to manage conflict in a reasonable and nonconfrontational manner.
- Commitment to acting with honesty and integrity regarding all customer and business information.
- Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve issues.
