About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will support our pharmacy team in providing essential care and service to our customers. You will work under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist to ensure accurate medication dispensing and patient safety while gaining hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting.
What you'll do#
- Provide drug counseling to customers and assist with over the counter medication recommendations.
- Accept and interpret oral and written prescriptions for new fills and refills.
- Accurately input patient and prescription data into the pharmacy computer system.
- Dispense the correct medication and bag prescriptions for delivery to customers.
- Provide immunizations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Contact prescribers and insurance companies to resolve authorization or coverage issues.
- Maintain a clean and organized department, including stocking incoming orders.
- Support customers, including minors, older adults, and individuals with special needs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A valid, state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a high-volume environment.
- Strong integrity and the ability to handle sensitive customer and business information.
- Capacity to manage conflict in a professional and nonconfrontational manner.
