About the role#
The Spring 2027 Construction Project Engineer Internship is a 12-week immersive program running from January 11 to April 23, 2027. Interns work under the guidance of project managers and construction managers to gain hands-on experience in facility engineering and capital projects. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position.
What you'll do#
- Assist project managers in the execution of essential job functions, including pre-remodel checklists and fixture drawings.
- Participate in the contractor bid process.
- Attend department meetings and project huddles.
- Assist in the inspection of capital projects to ensure compliance with specifications and quality control.
- Coordinate reviews of refrigeration, electrical, and mechanical plans with technical staff.
- Manage store fixture installations and track equipment orders to meet construction schedules.
- Support project closeout tasks, including punch lists, final invoicing, and as-built documentation.
- Complete minor capital projects and specific assignments required by your academic internship program.
- Prepare and present a cumulative summary of internship accomplishments to management.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a Construction Management, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Environmental Engineering, or Architecture degree program.
- A preferred GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Prior experience in a construction environment.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to work effectively in groups or independently.
- High motivation with a strong desire to take initiative.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to analyze information for business needs.
