About the role#
The Spring 2027 Construction Project Engineer Intern program is a 12-week immersive experience running from January 11 to April 23, 2027. Interns work alongside project managers and construction managers to gain hands-on experience in facility engineering and capital project execution. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position based in Cincinnati, Ohio.
What you'll do#
- Assist project managers with essential job functions, including pre-remodel checklists and fixture or refrigeration drawings.
- Support the execution of the contractor bid process.
- Help track equipment orders, schedule deliveries, and manage store fixture installations.
- Participate in weekly tasks and job meetings for capital projects.
- Assist with project closeout tasks such as punch lists, as-builts, final invoicing, and filing.
- Inspect capital projects to ensure compliance with specifications and quality control standards.
- Review architecture plans, refrigeration, and electrical or mechanical plans for completeness.
- Manage minor capital projects and complete estimates.
- Prepare and present a cumulative project summary to the executive team.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Construction Management.
- A preferred GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Prior experience working in a construction environment.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to work effectively in groups or independently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to analyze information and apply it to business needs.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
