About the role#
This is a paid, full-time pharmacy internship focused on providing exceptional customer service and supporting pharmacy operations. You will work under the supervision of a pharmacist to ensure safe, accurate, and efficient service while helping the department meet its sales and profit goals.
What you'll do#
- Create a welcoming and safe environment for customers and assist with product inquiries.
- Accurately input patient and prescription information into the pharmacy system.
- Provide drug counseling and assist customers with over-the-counter medication recommendations.
- Interpret oral and written prescriptions for fill and refill requests.
- Dispense medication, process third-party insurance information, and contact prescribers for authorization.
- Administer immunizations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Manage inventory by checking incoming orders, stocking shelves, and returning unused medication bottles.
- Maintain department cleanliness and report any safety risks, accidents, or incidents to management.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A valid state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a high-paced environment.
- Strong conflict management skills, with the ability to remain professional and nonconfrontational.
- Commitment to honesty and integrity when handling customer and business information.
- Ability to follow directions and provide support to diverse populations, including older adults and individuals with special needs.
