About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will support the pharmacy team in delivering exceptional customer service while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. This role involves direct patient interaction, administrative pharmacy tasks, and operational support within the department.
What you'll do#
- Create an outstanding customer experience by answering questions and providing drug counseling.
- Accurately input patient and prescription information into the pharmacy computer system.
- Assist with over-the-counter medication recommendations and dispense medications.
- Facilitate communication with prescribers for authorizations and contact insurance companies as needed.
- Provide immunizations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Manage inventory by checking incoming orders, stocking shelves, and returning unused medication to stock.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized department environment.
- Assist the department manager in meeting sales and profit goals while upholding quality assurance standards.
- Report safety risks, accidents, or incidents to management and the pharmacist on duty.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A valid, state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
- Strong commitment to honesty and integrity regarding business and customer information.
- Ability to provide supportive assistance to diverse populations, including minors, older adults, and individuals with special needs.
- Ability to follow directions and manage conflict in a professional, non-confrontational manner.
