About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will support the pharmacy department by providing exceptional service and maintaining high quality assurance standards. This role involves direct interaction with customers, prescribers, and pharmacy staff to ensure accurate medication dispensing and patient care.
What you'll do#
- Create a welcoming customer experience and provide drug counseling.
- Accurately input patient and prescription information into the pharmacy computer system.
- Discuss pharmaceutical products with customers and prescribers.
- Assist the department manager in meeting sales and profit goals.
- Facilitate prescription fills, refills, and third-party insurance processing.
- Provide immunizations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Manage inventory, including checking incoming orders and stocking medications.
- Maintain a clean and safe department environment.
- Report safety risks, accidents, or incidents to management and the pharmacist on duty.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A current state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
- Commitment to acting with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Experience providing support and assistance to diverse populations, including minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
- Ability to follow directions and manage conflict in a professional manner.
