About the role#
The Spring 2027 Construction Project Engineer Intern program is a 12-week immersive experience running from January 11 to April 23, 2027. Interns work under the guidance of project managers and construction managers to support capital projects, gain hands-on industry experience, and contribute to store development initiatives. This is a full-time, paid position that includes professional development opportunities and exposure to senior leadership.
What you'll do#
- Assist project managers with essential job functions, including pre-remodel checklists and as-built drawing documentation.
- Support the contractor bid process and participate in weekly project meetings.
- Manage equipment orders, track deliveries, and oversee store fixture installations.
- Conduct inspections of capital projects to ensure compliance with specifications and quality control standards.
- Review architectural, refrigeration, and electrical/mechanical plans for completeness.
- Evaluate the validity of proposed change orders.
- Complete estimates and manage the lifecycle of minor capital projects.
- Perform project closeout tasks, including punch lists, final invoicing, and filing.
- Prepare a cumulative project summary to present to the executive team at the conclusion of the internship.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Environmental, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering, Architecture, Business Administration, or Construction Management.
- A preferred GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Prior experience working in a construction environment.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret information and apply it to business needs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of motivation with the ability to take initiative and work both independently and in groups.
- Attention to detail and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Commitment to customer service and adherence to company values including safety, integrity, and inclusion.
