About the role#
This 12-week internship provides hands-on experience in construction project engineering. Working under the guidance of project managers and construction managers, you will support capital projects, participate in department meetings, and complete a cumulative project to present to the leadership team. This role requires on-site attendance and is a full-time, paid position.
What you'll do#
- Assist project managers with essential job functions, including pre-remodel checklists and drawing reviews.
- Manage the contractor bid process and review proposed change orders for validity.
- Track equipment orders and coordinate delivery schedules to align with construction timelines.
- Oversee store fixture installations and conduct quality control inspections to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Prepare estimates and manage the completion of minor capital projects.
- Support project closeout tasks such as punch lists, as-builts, and final invoicing.
- Coordinate with technical staff to review refrigeration, electrical, and mechanical plans.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Environmental, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering, Architecture, or Business Administration.
- A preferred GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Prior experience in a construction environment.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret information and apply it to business needs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
- Must have work authorization in the United States that does not require future sponsorship.
