About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will support the pharmacy department by providing exceptional customer service and assisting with daily operations. You will work under the supervision of a pharmacist to ensure accurate medication dispensing, patient counseling, and efficient department management while upholding company values of respect, honesty, and integrity.
What you'll do#
- Promote trust and respect among associates while ensuring customers feel welcome and appreciated.
- Gain and maintain knowledge of pharmaceutical products to competently discuss them with customers and prescribers.
- Provide drug counseling to customers and offer recommendations for over-the-counter medications.
- Accurately input patient and prescription information into the pharmacy system.
- Dispense correct medications, contact prescribers for authorization, and process third-party insurance information.
- Facilitate charge purchases, bag prescriptions for delivery, and accept oral or written prescriptions for fill or refill.
- Provide immunizations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Manage inventory by comparing incoming orders, stocking shelves, and returning unused medication bottles.
- Maintain a clean department and report any safety risks, accidents, or incidents to management.
- Assist diverse populations, including minors, older adults, and individuals with special needs.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A current state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
- Capacity to manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.
- Commitment to acting with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve issues.
