About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will support the pharmacy team in delivering exceptional service and maintaining a safe, welcoming environment for customers. This role involves direct interaction with patients and collaboration with pharmacists to ensure accurate medication management and adherence to quality standards.
What you'll do#
- Promote trust and respect among associates while ensuring customers feel valued.
- Answer customer questions regarding products and provide recommendations for over-the-counter medications.
- Maintain deep knowledge of pharmaceutical products to discuss them competently with customers and prescribers.
- Provide drug counseling to customers and administer immunizations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Manage prescription workflows, including data entry, contacting prescribers for authorization, processing insurance information, and dispensing medications.
- Handle inventory tasks such as checking incoming orders, stocking shelves, and returning unused stock.
- Maintain a clean, safe department and report any safety risks, incidents, or illegal activities to management.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A valid, state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
- Strong conflict management skills, with the ability to resolve issues in a cooperative and nonconfrontational manner.
- Commitment to acting with honesty and integrity regarding all customer and business information.
- Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary.
