About the role#
This 12-week internship offers hands-on experience in construction project engineering. You will work under the guidance of project managers and senior construction managers to support capital projects. The role involves a mix of administrative support, field inspection, and project coordination within a retail environment.
What you'll do#
- Assist project managers with essential job functions, including pre-remodel checklists and fixture or refrigeration drawings.
- Support the contractor bid process and attend weekly project meetings.
- Manage equipment orders, track deliveries, and coordinate store fixture installations.
- Assist with project closeout tasks such as punch lists, as-builts, final invoicing, and filing.
- Inspect capital projects to ensure compliance with quality control and specifications.
- Coordinate reviews of electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration plans with technical staff.
- Participate in department meetings and team huddles.
- Complete a cumulative project summarizing your internship accomplishments to present to management.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Business Administration, Architecture, or Construction Management.
- A preferred GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Prior experience in a construction environment.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret information and apply it to business needs.
- High motivation and the ability to take initiative on assigned tasks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a group.
