About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will work under the supervision of a pharmacist to provide essential clinical and operational support. This role focuses on maintaining high standards of patient care, accurate medication dispensing, and professional interaction with customers and healthcare providers.
What you'll do#
- Create a welcoming environment by answering customer questions about products throughout the store.
- Maintain deep knowledge of pharmaceutical products to discuss options with customers and prescribers.
- Accurately input patient data, process insurance information, and dispense medications.
- Contact prescribers for authorization and communicate with insurance companies as needed.
- Provide immunizations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Assist with over-the-counter medication recommendations and provide drug counseling.
- Manage pharmacy operations, including stocking orders, cleaning the department, and handling prescription intake.
- Support customers, including minors, older adults, and individuals with special needs, with honesty and integrity.
- Report safety risks, accidents, or incidents to pharmacy management immediately.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A current state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to manage conflict in a cooperative and nonconfrontational manner.
- Strong commitment to honesty and integrity regarding business and patient information.
- Ability to perform all essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
