About the role#
This internship provides students with hands-on training and mentorship within the construction and facility engineering department. You will work under the guidance of project managers and construction managers to support capital projects while gaining exposure to senior leadership. This is a 12-week immersive experience designed to help you apply your academic background to real-world business needs.
What you'll do#
- Assist project managers with essential functions, including pre-remodel checklists and fixture or refrigeration drawings.
- Support the contractor bid process and participate in weekly job meetings.
- Manage the preparation, ordering, and delivery tracking of equipment based on construction schedules.
- Oversee store fixture installations and assist with project closeout tasks like punch lists, final invoicing, and filing.
- Inspect capital projects to ensure compliance with quality control and technical specifications.
- Coordinate plan reviews for refrigeration, electrical, and mechanical systems with technical staff.
- Review architecture plans and proposed change orders for validity and standards compliance.
- Complete estimates and manage the lifecycle of minor capital projects.
- Participate in department meetings and team huddles.
- Develop and present a cumulative project summary to the executive team.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Architecture, or Business Administration.
- A preferred GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Prior experience working in a construction environment.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a group.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to analyze information and apply it to business requirements.
- Motivation to take initiative on assigned tasks.
