About the role#
This 12-week internship offers students hands-on training and mentorship within the construction and facility engineering department. Interns work alongside project managers and construction managers to support capital projects, gain exposure to industry leaders, and develop professional skills in a real-world environment. You will be expected to model core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety throughout your assignment.
What you'll do#
- Assist project managers with essential job functions, including pre-remodel checklists and fixture or refrigeration drawings.
- Support the contractor bid process and track equipment orders to ensure they align with construction schedules.
- Manage store fixture installations and assist with project closeout tasks such as punch lists, as-builts, final invoicing, and filing.
- Inspect capital projects for quality control and compliance with specifications.
- Coordinate reviews of refrigeration, electrical, and mechanical plans with technical staff.
- Review proposed change orders and architecture plans for completeness and standards compliance.
- Participate in department meetings and team huddles.
- Complete estimates and manage the completion of minor capital projects.
- Develop a cumulative project summarizing your internship accomplishments to present to the executive team.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Architecture, Business Administration, or Construction Management.
- A preferred GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Highly motivated mindset with the ability to take initiative on independent work.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to work effectively in groups.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present information to various levels of the organization.
- Accuracy and attention to detail, including the ability to preserve information confidentiality.
- Prior experience in a construction environment.
- Ability to analyze and interpret information to meet business needs.

- Term: Winter 2027 (January 11 to April 23).
