About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will work on-site to gain practical experience in a retail pharmacy setting. You will support the pharmacy team by managing customer interactions, processing prescriptions, and maintaining pharmacy operations under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Provide drug counseling to customers and assist with over-the-counter medication recommendations.
- Accurately input patient and prescription data into the pharmacy system.
- Dispense the correct medication and bag filled prescriptions for delivery.
- Contact prescribers' offices for authorization and communicate with insurance companies as needed.
- Administer immunizations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Maintain the pharmacy department, stock incoming orders, and process returns for unused medication.
- Accept and interpret oral and written prescriptions for new fills or refills.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A valid, state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a high-paced environment.
- Capacity to manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.
- Commitment to acting with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
