About the role#
As a Civil Design Intern at Kiewit Power Engineering, you will apply drafting principles to support our engineering teams. You will work under close guidance to develop models and drawings based on information from engineers and designers. This position involves coordinating with team members to exchange project information and performing specific design tasks for the Power district.
What you'll do#
- Develop 3D models and create plan drawings or details using sketches and design skills.
- Check designs for consistency, safety, and maintenance requirements.
- Navigate 3D models to identify interferences and verify constructability.
- Gather information for drawings and resolve comments on checked designs.
- Complete as-builts using RFIs, ECNs, and red-marked drawings.
- Follow the Operations Drafting/Design Standards Manual and Department Quality Standards.
- Report project progress and issues to the Lead Designer.
- Participate in project meetings and assist team members with job-related tasks.
- File master sets and original drawings.
- Create guidelines or checklists and document lessons learned.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing an Associate or Bachelor degree in Computer Aided Design and Drafting Technology or a related field.
- Ability to use computer-aided drafting programs, spreadsheets, and databases.
- Basic knowledge of computer operating systems.
- Ability to interpret multi-discipline engineering and vendor documents.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with team members, owners, and contractors.
- Ability to complete assignments on time and represent the company professionally.
- Must be legally authorized to work without sponsorship.
