About the role#
Kiewit is looking for an Architectural Engineer Intern to join the Industrial & Water Engineering group for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Lenexa, Kansas. You will work under the supervision of experienced architects and engineers to support building design projects.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the development of building lighting, power, and distribution designs, including minor telecom and security provisions.
- Perform Revit modeling and coordinate with BIM staff to complete project documentation.
- Complete technical calculations for lighting, electrical loading, short circuit, voltage drop, and energy code compliance.
- Coordinate with internal and external project teams.
- Help create and maintain department standards, tools, and estimating deliverables.
- Develop a working knowledge of departmental design standards, codes, and policies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Architectural Engineering with an electrical focus.
- A GPA above 3.0 is preferred.
- Proficiency in Revit and Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with lighting design software and Bluebeam is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work productively, meet deadlines, and follow instructions.
- Capacity to work overtime and weekends when project requirements demand it.
