About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting. You will support the pharmacy team in daily operations, ensuring accurate medication dispensing and high-quality customer service while working under the supervision of a pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Provide drug counseling and answer customer questions regarding pharmaceutical products.
- Dispense medications and accurately input patient and prescription information into the pharmacy system.
- Assist with over-the-counter medication recommendations and facilitate charge purchases.
- Process third-party insurance information and coordinate with prescribers for authorizations.
- Provide immunizations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Manage inventory by checking incoming orders, stocking shelves, and returning unused stock.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized department while assisting the manager in meeting sales and profit goals.
- Support diverse customer needs, including interactions with minors, older adults, and individuals with special needs.
- Report safety risks, accidents, or incidents to management and the pharmacist on duty.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a United States school of pharmacy.
- A current state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a high-paced environment.
- Strong conflict management skills, with a focus on nonconfrontational and cooperative resolutions.
- Commitment to maintaining honesty and integrity regarding business and customer information.
- Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary.
