About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will support the pharmacy team in providing exceptional service and maintaining operational standards. This role involves direct interaction with customers, assisting with medication management, and ensuring a safe, welcoming environment within the pharmacy department.
What you'll do#
- Create a welcoming environment by answering customer questions regarding products throughout the store.
- Gain and maintain knowledge of pharmaceutical products to discuss them competently with customers and prescribers.
- Provide drug counseling to customers and assist with over-the-counter medication recommendations.
- Accurately input patient and prescription information into the pharmacy system and dispense medications.
- Process third-party insurance information and contact prescribers' offices for authorizations.
- Provide immunizations under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Maintain the department by cleaning, stocking incoming orders, and managing inventory.
- Handle prescription fulfillment, including accepting and interpreting oral and written prescriptions.
- Report safety risks, accidents, or incidents to management and the pharmacist on duty.
- Assist with bagging and delivering prescriptions to customers accurately.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A current state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a high-paced environment.
- Strong conflict management skills, maintaining a reasonable and nonconfrontational approach.
- Commitment to acting with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary.
