About the role#

As a Pharmacy Intern, you will support the pharmacy team by providing clinical assistance and exceptional customer service. This role involves direct patient interaction, accurate processing of prescriptions, and maintaining pharmacy operations under the guidance of a licensed pharmacist.

What you'll do#

• Create a welcoming environment by answering customer questions regarding products throughout the store.
• Gain and maintain a deep knowledge of pharmaceutical products to discuss options with customers and prescribers.
• Provide drug counseling to customers and assist with over-the-counter medication recommendations.
• Accurately input patient and prescription data into the pharmacy computer system.
• Dispense correct medications and contact prescribers for necessary authorizations.
• Process third-party insurance information and resolve coverage issues.
• Administer immunizations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
• Manage pharmacy inventory, including checking incoming orders and stocking medications.
• Maintain a clean, safe department and report any safety risks or incidents to management.

What you'll need#

• Active enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
• A current, state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
• Ability to work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
• Strong conflict management skills, with the ability to handle situations in a nonconfrontational and cooperative manner.
• Commitment to acting with honesty and integrity regarding all business and patient information.
• Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve issues.
