Assurance Intern - Summer 2027

About the role#

As an Assurance Intern, you will work within our practice to gain hands-on experience by assisting with client engagements. You will work alongside experienced team members who provide direction, coaching, and opportunities to apply your educational background in a professional setting.

What you'll do#

• Participate in a structured on-the-job training program to build familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS).
• Learn BDO-specific audit methodology to assist with various stages of the audit process.
• Provide support functions to audit staff during engagements, including preparing and documenting work in working papers using firm tools and templates.
• Communicate with clients, customers, creditors, banks, and related parties regarding audit issues.
• Contribute ideas and opinions to audit teams.
• Complete an assigned accounting or audit-related research project and present findings to a panel of Assurance professionals.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Accounting (Master's degree pursuit is preferred).
• Active pursuit of school credits required to become a CPA.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to follow instructions, work effectively in a team setting, and demonstrate a willingness to learn.
• Leadership experience is preferred.
