About the role#
As an Assurance Intern, you will work alongside experienced team members to assist with audit engagements. This role provides hands-on experience in audit methodology and professional practice. You will receive direction and coaching while working within a team to support the firm's client base.
What you'll do#
- Participate in a structured on-the-job training program to build familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS).
- Assist with various stages of the audit process by applying BDO specific audit methodology.
- Provide support functions to audit staff during engagements.
- Communicate with clients, creditors, banks, and related parties regarding audit issues.
- Document work in working papers using firm tools and templates.
- Contribute ideas to the audit team and respond to team member perspectives.
- Complete an assigned accounting or audit research project and present findings to a panel of Assurance professionals.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelors or Masters program in Accounting (required).
- Active pursuit of school credits to become a CPA.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (required).
- Pursuing a Masters degree in Accounting (preferred).
- Leadership experience (preferred).
- Ability to work effectively in a team setting and follow instructions as directed.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
