About the role#
As an Assurance Intern, you will participate in a structured on-the-job training program designed to build your foundational knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS). You will work alongside experienced team members to gain hands-on experience with audit methodologies and support the firm's client engagements.
What you'll do#
- Engage in a structured training program to familiarize yourself with audit standards and BDO-specific methodology.
- Provide support functions to audit staff during active engagements.
- Communicate with clients, creditors, banks, and related parties regarding audit issues.
- Prepare and document work in working papers using firm tools and templates.
- Contribute ideas and opinions to audit teams.
- Complete an assigned accounting or audit-related research project and present findings to a panel of Assurance professionals.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelors or Masters program in Accounting (Masters degree preferred).
- Active pursuit of school credits required to become a CPA.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and follow directed instructions.
- Leadership experience is preferred.
