About the role#
As an Assurance Intern, you will participate in a structured on-the-job training program to build your foundational knowledge of accounting and auditing. Working alongside experienced team members, you will assist in problem-solving and fact-finding for a diverse client base. This role provides hands-on experience with firm practices and allows you to build professional relationships within the industry.
What you'll do#
- Participate in structured training to become familiar with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS).
- Learn and apply BDO-specific audit methodology to assist with various stages of the audit process.
- Provide support functions to audit staff during engagements, including preparing and documenting work in working papers.
- Communicate with clients, customers, creditors, banks, and related parties regarding audit issues.
- Contribute ideas and opinions to audit teams.
- Complete one assigned accounting or audit-related research project and present findings to a panel of Assurance professionals.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelors or Masters program in Accounting is required; pursuing a Masters degree in Accounting is preferred.
- Actively pursuing school credits to become a CPA.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team setting and follow instructions as directed.
- Leadership experience is preferred.
