About the role#
As an Assurance Intern, you will participate in a structured on-the-job training program to build your foundational knowledge of accounting and auditing. You will work alongside experienced team members to assist with various stages of the audit process, gaining hands-on experience in problem solving and fact-finding. This role provides an opportunity to develop professional relationships and gain insight into the firm's practices.
What you'll do#
- Participate in structured training to become familiar with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS).
- Learn and apply BDO-specific audit methodology to assist with engagement tasks.
- Provide support functions to the audit staff throughout the engagement process.
- Communicate with clients, creditors, banks, and related parties regarding audit issues.
- Prepare and document work in working papers using firm-specific tools and templates.
- Contribute ideas and opinions to the audit team.
- Complete one assigned accounting or audit-related research project and present findings to a panel of Assurance professionals.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelors or Masters program in Accounting (Masters degree preferred).
- Active pursuit of school credits required to become a CPA.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team setting and follow instructions as directed.
- Leadership experience is preferred.
