About the role#
As an Assurance Intern, you will apply your accounting education to real client engagements. You will work alongside experienced team members to solve problems and gather facts. This role provides a hands-on perspective of our audit practices and helps you build professional relationships early in your career.
What you'll do#
- Participate in structured on-the-job training to learn Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards.
- Gain familiarity with BDO audit methodology to assist during various stages of the audit process.
- Provide support functions to audit staff throughout engagements.
- Communicate with client contacts, including customers, creditors, and banks, regarding audit issues.
- Prepare and document work in working papers using firm-specific tools and templates.
- Contribute ideas to audit teams and complete an assigned research project for presentation to a panel of professionals.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelors or Masters program in Accounting is required.
- Pursuing a masters degree in Accounting is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Active pursuit of school credits to become a CPA.
- Leadership experience is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team setting.
